Fly Green: the way to green aviation
"Green airports": how to make the aviation industry energy efficient and friendly to the planet
Experts: Olha Drach, Svitlana Parkhomenko, Serhii Tsivun, +3
Airplanes emit CO2, NO2, soot, and water vapor into the upper atmosphere, which increases the warming effect. However, the airline industry is slowly transforming in response to climate change.
"Green Airport" is one of the solutions designed to reduce the environmental impact of aviation. Find out what it takes to create a "green airport", how ISO environmental management works, and how to achieve energy efficiency. With the Ukrainian airports — Boryspil or Lviv International Airport — as examples, you will see how renewable energy sources work. Separate series are dedicated to garbage and waste management, "green" mobility, and seeking funding for your projects. Study examples not only from Ukraine, but also the best cases of "green airports" from around the world.
The educational series of the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine was developed by the State Aviation Service of Ukraine with the technical support of the EU-Ukraine Association Support Advisory Fund and GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit) on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
