How to continue teaching regardless of the war

Within this educational series, we will discuss learning in middle school during wartime. We will explore how teachers can effectively work under air raid conditions and how to provide students with not only knowledge and skills but also a sense of safety. Ultimately, we will talk about how to be a reliable support not only for students but foremost for oneself. Moreover, we will talk about new educational tools that can be useful, such as artificial intelligence.

Episode 1. Taking care of oneself

If the pressure suddenly drops on board an airplane, you must first put an oxygen mask on yourself. And only then on the child. The same goes for teaching: for teaching effectively during wartime, it's necessary to take care of oneself. In the first episode, we identify markers of teacher exhaustion and discuss methods of recovery. We discuss types of resources, working with thoughts, and reflection.

Episode 2. Caring for students

In this episode, we talk about how to care for the emotional well-being of children during wartime. We discuss signs of stress and tips on dealing with guilt and anger in students. We determine how to create a sense of safety in the classroom.

Episode 3. Working with trauma

In the third episode, we reveal what post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is and how it affects children. We discuss the symptoms of PTSD. We share advice on assisting a child during a panic attack and tantrum. We comment on situations when it's appropriate to refer children to professionals to overcome the effects of trauma.
