The educational series is designed to facilitate the comprehensive and harmonious development of children while also engaging preschool educators in initiating and implementing changes. Additionally, it seeks to underscore the importance of preschool education and advance the cause of safe and inclusive learning environments.

The educational series was created by UNICEF with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine with information support from the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine for Diia.Education.

What is the ECERS-3 methodology? What indicators show that the educational space is of high quality? ECERS-3 is a system of criteria for assessment of the quality of the overall learning environment in preschool institutions. The main task of the methodology is to evaluate quality according to certain metrics, but its recommendations can and should be applied in your daily activities in the preschool institutions. How should the kindergarten space be arranged and visually furnished?

Do kindergarten teachers have to sit at the same table with the children while eating? How to teach children to wash their hands? During this session, we talk about the second subscale of the ECERS-3 methodology “Personal Care Routines”. It consists of four parameters: food consumption, toilet and hygiene procedures, health-preserving practices and safety.

In what way can we encourage children to speak? We discuss recommendations related to the development of speech and expansion of the child’s vocabulary in particular. This also concerns the issue of why reading books together with children should not be limited to reading itself, but should be rather a much broader activity.
