This educational series focuses on barrier-free practices and accessibility within the work of the National Police of Ukraine. Its goal is to help police officers act with respect, empathy, and understanding towards every individual — regardless of their abilities, age, or life circumstances.

Across four episodes, the series explores the key principles of equality and inclusion, professional ethics, identifying and removing barriers, and developing sensitive communication skills. It serves as a practical guide on how to make police work accessible to everyone, strengthen public trust, and create a safe environment where every person feels valued and respected.

The educational series was created by UNDP in cooperation with the National Police of Ukraine for the Diia.Education platform, within the “Inclusive Recovery Support for Resilience and Human Security in Ukraine” project, with financial support from the Government of Japan.

What does barrier-free practice and inclusion mean in police work? Why is respect for human diversity the foundation of public trust? This episode explains the principles of accessibility, clear communication, impartiality, and openness to change. It also introduces the legal standards that require the police to ensure dignity and fair treatment for everyone.

Empathy, restraint, and respect form the core of police professionalism. This episode explores how upholding human rights, preventing discrimination, and being attentive to people’s different needs help build trust in the police. It shows how ethical behaviour, composure, and humanity support conflict resolution, help victims, and strengthen the authority of the police in society.

This episode introduces various types of barriers — physical, informational, digital, psychological, institutional, and economic — and explains how they affect people’s access to police support. Participants will learn how to identify and remove obstacles in a timely manner, creating conditions where everyone can receive assistance without barriers.
