The Program Summary Mercy Corps’ Ukraine crisis response seeks to meet the humanitarian needs of vulnerable Ukrainians and other conflict-affected people where they are: displaced inside Ukraine, refugees in Poland, Romania, and Moldova, or trapped behind frontlines. We aim to reach 500,000 vulnerable people with multi-purpose cash assistance, in-kind humanitarian support, and protection services across four countries. Almost all our impact will be delivered in partnership: with Ukrainian, Polish, Romanian and Moldovan civil society organizations through a granting program that matches humanitarian action with capacity strengthening, and with peer international NGOs through a consortium in Ukraine.  Mercy Corps is focused on the emergency delivery of aid to the affected populations, primarily through Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) and in-kind food and non-food assistance. Mercy Corps realizes that alongside ongoing emergency activities, it is essential to engage in resilience programming that will help conflict affected businesses and farmers in their recovery efforts. Therefore, Mercy Corps is planning to launch Ukraine Agriculture Support Program (UASP), that aims to increase economic stability and self-sufficiency, and facilitate early recovery for smallholder subsistence farmers and small and medium sized farming enterprises in targeted areas in Ukraine. The Position (General Position Summary) Under the direct supervision of UASP Deputy Program Manager, Agriculture Analyst is responsible for analyzing publicly accessible agricultural data produced by the Ministry of the Agrarian Policy and Food (MAPFU) and other relevant government institutions. He/She is also responsible, based on the collected data, to provide regular updates to UASP management on agriculture market trends, policy discussions and legislative changes in agriculture sector, and assist in developing Mercy Corps agricultural strategies and programs with the focus on household level subsistence farmers, as well as small and medium-sized farming enterprises. The Agriculture Analyst will be seconded by Mercy Corps to the Ministry of the Agrarian Policy and Food and in addition to the primary tasks described above, will assist MAPFU management and staff members responsible for research and development activities in producing various research and analytical products, including dat. He/She at the same time should promote Mercy Corps values through various entry points in the project and preserve staff moral and enthusiasm for the project work. Essential Responsibilities Provide analytical insights and recommendations to UASP and MAPFU with the purpose to enhance the efficiency, sustainability and productivity of the Ukrainian agriculture sector, with the focus on household level subsistence farmers, as well as small and medium farming enterprises;Collect, organize and analyze publicly available agricultural data related to crop yields, livestock production, weather patterns, market prices, condition of agriculture soils, access to irrigation schemes, availability of machinery equipment, etc.Utilize statistical tools and software to derive meaningful insights from the data;Monitor local and global agriculture market trends and identify opportunities and challenges for Ukrainian farmers, with the focus on household level subsistence farmers, as well as small and medium farming enterprises;Map existing agricultural policies and ongoing policy discussions related with subsistence, small and medium farmers. Identify opportunities (including informing key MAPFU) officials to consider grass-roots level feedback collected from UASP program participants during the policy discussions;Assist UASP Management to engage with key stakeholders, including relevant government officials and agencies, agriculture associations and farmers groups, sectoral experts, etc. to gather insights, understand challenges and foster collaboration.
